Children's Day 2021


The kannushi and staff of Suiren Temple, home of the kami Tenkogami Hasu, welcome all guests to visit.

We are located on Coeurl, Shirogane Ward 23, Plot 37. Feel free to visit!

Omamori

Charms for a variety of purposes. Health, childbirth, happiness, protection, warding from evil, academics, all manner of omamori exist.

Do not open the cloth bag lest the charm lose its effect!

Ema

Wooden plaques which one writes their wishes on. It is then hung on the booth. Afterwards the kannushi will gather them and burn them in sacred fire to complete the cycle

Blessed Sake

Sake brewed by Suiren-no-Mori for distribution to guests. It differs from ceremonial drink but is just as lovely and light on the tongue, carrying a slight floral taste in celebration of the season.

○ Children's Day Specials ○

Suiren Temple will celebrate Children's Day on 6 May, 7pm EDT. Come enjoy the celebration of children and the families that cherish them.

Koi Nobori

Flown to celebrate families, parents can purchase a larger carp to represent themselves and smaller for the children of their family. The temple will help arrange your banner so you can fly it happily over your residence.

Gogatsu Ningyo

A samurai doll symbolizing strength and courage, often adorned with a kabuto, or warrior helmet. These are traditionally set up in the household as a reminder of these traits for the next turn to come.

These dolls are handmade by our disciples of straw and fabric, and bamboo armor.

Kushi Dango

Tri-colored mochi to celebrate the holiday! Mildly sweet and mochi-squishy!

Chimaki

Rice dumpling wrapped in bamboo leaf. Filled with spiced pork and veggies.

Please make sure to check in with our staff to enter our open raffle! Also if you would like to share a Children's Day story, inform a staff member so we can make sure you get a time slot.

Omamori Crafts

Learn to make omamori bags from cloth and put your own special memento inside to hold onto or gift to friends or family.

Mochi Making

Join one of the temple cooks on learning how to make mochi! Pound away at this gooey mess and add your own fillings to take home.

Face Painting

Want to be a kitty cat? Moogle? One of the Four Lords? Challenge our staff on painting duty to make you look your best for the course of this celebration!

Goldfish Grab

Try your luck in catching one of these beauties to take home! A paper fan is your only tool to do battle!

(Rules to be explained by the staff member during event.)

Noodle Boogaloo

A tradition for good luck! Every ten minutes throughout the mini-game session, a call will go out for guests to line up in front of a bowl of ramen. At the staff's call, you will pluck one noodle and consume it as fast as possible! First one to finish wins.

(Roll against the staff member's /random. Closest to the staff's number is declared the winner!)

Hide and Seek

One of our staff will be hiding within the temple's housing ward! Can you find them to claim a great prize?

The target will not go into any houses or leave the ward. They will be in the wild open of the district. First one to trade the staff member who has materia melding status on, wins.
